Uccello Jewellery & Watches is a proud family-owned and operated jewellery business, owned by husband and wife David and Deborah Szigeti, with both their son and daughter working alongside them.
For our family, jewellery isn’t just a product. It’s personal, meaningful and something that should be made to last a lifetime.
With over 36 years of experience in the jewellery and watch industry, David brings an extensive depth of knowledge, craftsmanship and experience to Uccello. His career began at Dunklings the Jewellers, where he started as a despatch clerk before moving into the repair and service department at the Victorian head office. It was here that he developed strong foundations in jewellery and watchmaking, along with a lasting appreciation for traditional trade skills and quality workmanship.
David later progressed into retail sales and management, completing a Diploma of Retail Management at La Trobe University. He went on to work in the second-hand jewellery and watch industry at a wholesale level, further developing his knowledge of quality, craftsmanship and value.
He later established his own wholesale jewellery business in Melbourne, eventually relocating to South Yarra.
Uccello Jewellery & Watches has been trading since 1998, with the past 16 years dedicated to building a trusted retail presence in Altona. We recognised a need for an independent local jeweller that still offers the kind of “old school” knowledge, personal service and workmanship that has become increasingly difficult to find.
We’re also proud to be actively involved in our local community. Uccello is a member of the Altona Village Traders Association (AVTA), where Deborah has served on the committee for the past three years in various roles. David has also previously contributed to the committee, including serving as Treasurer and Vice President.
